Minutes of the J.A. Meeting
Meeting Date:  March. 4, 2009 President Sharon Akiyama called the meeting to order at 7:33 PM.	Corrections/Additions to Previous Minutes None.
Treasurer’s Report:  David Ziesmer presented the treasurer’s report.  Acknowledgements/Announcements 1. Eric and Carlene Tamichi donated $100.00 to the building fund.
Affiliated Clubs/Chairpersons Reports:
JARCC – Sam Sunada · A few false fire alarms in the past month. Will contact the alarm company to come out and trouble-shoot. Buddhist Fellowship - Sharon Akiyama Saturday Service will be held on March 7^th at 5:30 P.M. .Dr. Shoyo Taniguchi will be the guest minister. Potluck dinner to follow service. April 5^th: Hanamatsuri Service at 10:00 A.M Jr. YBA – Sharon Akiyama Planning an udon feed in the spring. Nippongo Gakuen – Yale Kofman March 14^th -- Kodomo-No-Hi (Children’s Day). March 28^th -- Last day for one of the teachers. A substitute is in place for the rest of this school year. If interested in teaching the kindergarten age, please apply Athletic Club – Dave Uemura · Basketball season formally over. · Play-offs: March 8-9^th. Shaunessey chicken dinners still on sale Building Superintendent – Jon Yokoyama · No report. Gardeners’ Club – John Nishizawa 2^nd Wed. of the month is their monthly meeting. Ikenobo Club – Pat Baba No report. JASEB –Yukio Kitagawa · Mark Murano has been appointed as the new Executive Director. Judo Club - Leslie Hisaka Please be advised that some one is removing our brooms from behind the 6 foot high stacked mats. These brooms are used only for our canvas and need to stay clean. They are labeled “Judo” and it would be appreciated if no one else would use them. Three week-ends in a row students attended tournaments: Congrats to the following: Ryan Hisaka and Derek Lin who took 2^nd at San Jose Buddhist 2/15. Ryan Hisaka 1st and Sydney Kanazawa 2nd at the 1^st Annual Makimoto tourney in Vacaville on 2/22, and Derek Lin 1^st and Ryan Hisaka 2^nd at the Cupertino Judo tourney 3/1.	Diablo Kendo Club – Judith Aono No report. Shinwakai – Yukio Kitagawa Sat March 28^th: The Annual Northern California Seniors New Year’s Celebration will be held at SACBC. The bus leaves the JA Club at 9:30 A.M. and returns at 3:00 P.M.. $15.00 fee includes bento lunch and transportation. Contact Yukio if interested in joining in the festivities. Diablo Taiko Club – Susan The club is performing at the Clayton library on March 7^th for the “Cultural Legacies…Reflections of our Past” program. The group had an impromptu performance at the Shinwakai mtg. last Saturday which they enjoyed playing for the seniors. Summer Festival – Ron Onizuka Planning has begun. Festival on August 8^th and 9^th. SAVE THE DATE to work Membership Chairperson – Laura Takeuchi The presidents and club reps will be reviewing the new roster for distribution upon approval. Old Business · Do not bounce balls on the walls in the gym. · Fire Alarm issues continue New Business · The question was raised on how the Shigin Club could become a formal club within the JA Club. They were advised of the by-laws and what steps would be necessary. Judith Aono said that she would send the by-laws to Mr. Nishizawa electronically. · Family Talent night planned for June 27^th. · Copy Machine in the office: PLEASE contact Judith Aono if you use the last toner cartridge, so another can be ordered, OR if there are problems with the machine. If you use the bottom drawer, please be advised that it takes 2 sizes of paper and needs to be adjusted appropriately. · There are still robberies occurring at the JA Club. Be diligent in locking the doors and Be Careful if coming into the hall alone. Please report any unfamiliar faces to the building superintendent or club presidents
