Minutes of the J.A. Meeting
Meeting Date:  Nov. 5, 2008 President Sharon Akiyama called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.	Corrections/Additions to Previous Minutes No corrections.
Treasurer’s Report:  David Ziesmer presented the treasurer’s report.  Acknowledgements/Announcements 1. Donation in Memory of Charlie Ajari to the building fund for $100.00 from the Dai Ichi Golf Club.
Affiliated Clubs/Chairpersons Reports:
JARCC – Sam Sunada Elections to the 2009 board are as follows: · President- Sam Sunada. · Vice President- Wayne Akiyama · Recording Secretary- Bob Okubo · Corresponding Secretary- Joanne Kozuki · JARCC Treasurer- Ray Tamura · Fellowship Treasurer- Pat Baba · Superintendent- Sharon Akiyama · Board Member- Dave Uemura · Board Member- Bruce Tamura (to replace Jene Tamura) · Board Member- Ken Baba · Board Member- Judith Aono · Board Member- Marc Goto · Board Member- Ron Onizuka Buddhist Fellowship - Sharon Akiyama Upcoming Mochi Sale: Sunday December 14^th. Anyone interested in buying mochi, can contact Pat Baba. Orders must be placed by December 8^th. Look for the flyer at the JA Hall, in the newsletter, and on the website. Jr. YBA – Sharon Akiyama No report Nippongo Gakuen – Yale Kofman Conducted a fire drill at school and everything went smoothly. All computers have been moved out and donated to E-waste drive at Concord High School. A student, Hina Ahmed, a student in the upper division class won a speech contest at the Japanese Consulate. Congrats! They are planning the Holiday Potluck Party. It will take place on Sunday, December 7^th from 5-8 p.m. Please look for the flyer. The theme is “Holidays Around the World” and everyone is encouraged to attend. Athletic Club – Dave Uemura · Basketball practices have started.. All teams should have been notified by now. Building Superintendent – Jon Yokoyama · Locks have been changed on the bathrooms. Please do not lock the bathroom doors when leaving the facility. · JA Club will be closed between Christmas and the New Year to allow for work to be done. All activities should be cancelled. Gardeners’ Club – No Representative Ikenobo Club – Pat Baba No report. JASEB –Yukio Kitagawa · No report.	Judo Club - Leslie Hisaka Students attended the Bojuka Judo Tournament in Seaside on November 2nd. Toshi Kanazawa, Kalene Leong, Derek Lin and Michael Sakaida all placed 2^nd. Congrats! Diablo Kendo Club – Mike Espinosa No report. Shinwakai – Yukio Kitagawa Longtime member Charlie Ajari passed away. The funeral was very well attended. $100.00 donation received from Ajari Family to Shinwakai. Thanksgiving lunch will be on November 15^th. Members to bring “goodies” to go with the traditional turkey provided by the club (and cooked by Yukio). The club will join in the Holiday Party festivities in December. They will have their New Year’s luncheon in January. Diablo Taiko Club – Jiro Hess On October 20^th they had a workshop taught by Kazuaki Tomida that was attended by 20 beginning and advanced students. It was enjoyed by all. A small group will be playing at the Clayton Library on November 16^th. Summer Festival – Ron Onizuka No report.    Membership Chairperson – Sam Sunada MISSING: Athletic Club and Gardner’s Club membership lists and waivers. Old Business · None. New Business Installation dinner is scheduled for Monday January 19^th at 6 p.m. at Suwa’s Restaurant The budget was requested and approved. RSVP to be NO LATER than January 11, 2009 to Mike Espinosa The schedule is complete for use of the gym. All requests are to go through the JARCC. Any complaints are to be made directly to Sharon Akiyama, president Election for 2009 JA Club Board is just around the corner. We are currently looking for a Membership Chairperson. Voting will take place at the December meeting
