Minutes of the J.A. Meeting
Meeting Date:  Sept. 3, 2008 President Sharon Akiyama called the meeting to order at 7:32 PM.	Corrections/Additions to Previous Minutes Correction to the spelling of Yale Kofman and the minutes stand as corrected
Treasurer’s Report:  David Ziesmer presented the treasurer’s report.  Acknowledgements/Announcements 1. Donation from Athletic Club for $500.00 to the scholarship fund 2. Thank you note received from Michael Tsujimoto for his scholarship money 3. $100.00 donation from the Kobata family in memory of Mabel Kobata to the bldg. fund 4. Donations totaling $1,135.00 received in honor of Peter Hirano from: Jim & Virginia Villa, Arthur & Louise Turrin, Bob & Kay Massone, Glenn & Joyce Onizuka, Morris & Jane Kosakura, Eugene & Rae Cecchettini, Steve & Frances Suto, Jill Tajima & Keith Onodera, Gene & Yoshiko Mayebo, Carole Woods, Dorothy Stockwell, Judith & Akira Aono, Yukio & Keiko Kitagawa, Eizo & Mary Kobayashi, Hiro & Chiz Mifune, Robert & Frances Tsujimoto, John & Masako Yamamoto, S. JARCC – Sam Sunada Thank you to all members who worked hard to make the Summer Festival successful. Reminder: LOCK ALL DOORS WHEN LEAVING THE CLUB Buddhist Fellowship - Sharon Akiyama Sunday services begin 9/7/08 Jr. YBA – Sam Sunada No report. Nippongo Gakuen – Yale Kofman and Sandi Svoboda A request was made to hold the Holiday Party on Sunday 12/7 at 5 P.M. The date was approved by the J.A. Club. (Usage had been approved by the JARCC.) Decorating/set-up to occur the day before. General mtg. 9/13. Midori Miller will not return this year, but will be replaced by Nagisha Hayashi. - Welcome. Athletic Club – Dave Uemura No report. Building Superintendent – Sam Sunada for Jon Yokoyama PLEASE check all doors when using the J.A. CLUB! The oven/stove was repaired. Thank you Bob Okubo for making that happen. The racks in the oven are still to be fixed Gardeners’ Club – No representative Ikenobo Club – Pat Baba Class resumed Tues. 9/2. Class takes place the first and third Tuesdays of the month starting at 7 P.M JASEB –Yukio Kitagawa The volunteer appreciation lunch will take place 9/14 at Aroma Restaurant in Alameda Judo Club - Leslie Hisaka Registration for the new year is on Thursday 9/4 at 6:30 P.M. Diablo Kendo Club – Mike Espinosa No report.	Shinwakai – Yukio Kitagawa Ochazuke luncheon will be held on Sat., Sept. 20^th starting at 1 P.M. Shinwakai will provide the rice and green tea, while attending members will bring and share their home-made pickled radish, rakkyo, nappa and many other pickled vegetables along with their favorite chawan & hashi.. Also welcome is a favorite dessert to share. Diablo Taiko Club – Susan Their debut performance was at the Summer Festival and all went well. Summer Festival – Ron Onizuka Thank you to all that helped to make it a successful festival Post –festival mtg. is on 9/17 at 7:30 P.M. Appreciation dinner will be on 10/11 at 5:30 P.M. Festival next year is on the 2^nd week-end in August (AS ALWAYS) –the dates are: 8/8/09-8/9/09. Please save the date Thank you note received from Ruth Hirano & Lillian Muraoka from the gift shop thanking everyone who donated to the gift shop to make it a success    Membership Chairperson – Sam Sunada New membership form must now be used. Membership runs from Oct 1^st thru Sept 30th. Now that all schools/activities are beginning again, we are reminded to check ALL doors at the facility. Some doors stick and appear closed but are NOT. Please check all doors carefully Old Business Again, check all doors when leaving the hall to ensure they are closed AND locked New Business None
