Minutes of the J.A. Meeting
Meeting Date:  May 7, 2008 President Sharon Akiyama called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM.	Corrections/Additions to Previous Minutes None.
Treasurer’s Report:  David Ziesmer presented the treasurer’s report.  Acknowledgements/Announcements None
Affiliated Clubs/Chairpersons Reports:
JARCC – Sharon Akiyama for Sam Sunada · The directory is finished. · Bee Report: There have been several bids to remove the roof portion and a beekeeper will take the bees away. · Kitchen: please remember to lock the doors when leaving. It was found open at the Saturday service. Also, please keep the kitchen clean! Do not leave items on the counter between the refrigerators. Buddhist Fellowship - Sharon Akiyama The final service will be on Sat. June 7th. Reverend David Matsumoto will preside. Service begins at 5:30 P.M. with a potluck dinner following. Jr. YBA – Sam Sunada No report. Nippongo Gakuen – Jon Yokoyama School is almost over. The last day of school is 5/17. This Sat. is the membership mtg. from 9 -10:30 A.M. Members will be reminded of their responsibility for summer festival. Elections for next year will take place. Graduation takes place on 5/17. All are invited to attend. Please bring a finger food or a drink to share. Athletic Club – Dave Uemura · Signups for next year’s basketball season is Friday June 6^th at 6 P.M. · Introduced Les Gee, rep. for “old men’s basketball”. Building Superintendent – Jon Yokoyama · For any key issue, please contact Jon. Dave Uemura is no longer in charge of the keys. · The pay phone under the stairs has been replaced, but is presently not working. Gardeners’ Club – Hiroshi Akiyama · No reprensentative. Ikenobo Club - Pat Baba No report. JASEB –Yukio Kitagawa · There is no longer an executive director. Position to be filled.	Judo Club - Leslie Hisaka They have started practicing on Tuesday nights from 7-9 P.M. Thank you to the JARCC for allowing this additional practice time. Diablo Kendo Club – Joshua Zeismer Two students plan to attend promotions this week-end. Good luck. Shinwakai – Yukio Kitagawa May 17^th is Bingo Day at 1 P.M. Family Talent night will be on June 28^th at 6 P.M. All organizations are to provide entertainment for this event. Diablo Taiko Club – Peter De Genero They performed at the Shinwakai meeting 2 weeks ago. They are now preparing for the Family Talent night and Summer Festival. Summer Festival – Ron Onizuka The roster is done. Program, posters, raffle tickets are all at the printer at this time. Membership Chairperson – Sam Sunada Directory is finished and will be sent out in the near future. Old Business Scholarship applications are available. JA Scholarship applications are due 5/19. Any clubs that have middle school, high school or college graduates this year should submit their names ASAP to Sharon Akiyama. The dinner will be held on Sunday June 1st at Zio Fraedo’s.
